Hello, my darlings. Today I wanted to talk to you about makeup myths we used to believe are true and tell you why they are just a myth, and you shouldn’t trust everything you hear. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.
Myth No.1- Cosmetic doesn’t expire. Every cosmetics product has an expiration date. Nothing lasts forever. And you can find it on every product you buy. So when buying something, first check the expiration date. Using an expired product, again and again, can cause inflammation which is not good.
Myth No.2- There is no need to remove your makeup before going to bed. The worst thing you can to for your skin is to go to bed with your makeup on. Your makeup can clog your skin pores and will interfere in the skin generation and moisturizing process that takes place during the night when you sleep.
Myth No.3- Concealer goes before the foundation. It’s recommended to apply foundation first and then the concealer to hide the other skin imperfections using concealer. This helps you make your makeup look more natural.
Myth No.4- You don’t need sunscreen if your foundation has it. It’s recommended to apply foundation first and then the concealer to hide the other skin imperfections using concealer. This helps you make your makeup look more natural. Makeup alone does not provide enough protection from the sun.
Myth No.5- Dark eyeliner makes eyes look bigger. Thick black wings create a deep-set effect, and, as a result, the eyes look smaller. To make eyes look bigger, it’s better to apply light eye shadows and eyeliner to the inner eyelid.
Myth No.6- Red is not everyone’s color. Red lipstick is perfect for any skin shade. All you have to do is check an undertone of the lipstick and see which suits you better. Any shade of red is good to go for any skin tone. Don’t follow this.
Myth No.7- Blue eye shadow is a relic of the past. Recent makeup trends tell a different story: blue, turquoise and azure eye shadows are now the fashion. And if you love wearing blue eyeshadow, you shouldn’t stop, just because someone says that it is not „trendy“!
Myth No.8- Expensive makeup is better. Everyone believes that if makeup is expensive, it must be better. This is so not true. There are so many cheaper makeup and beauty brands that are equally good, if not better, then their more expensive version.
Myth No.9- Oily skin people don’t need a moisturizer. Moisturiser is the key to keep your skin hydrated. People with oily skin might need a light one, but they undoubtedly need one. You don’t want the chemicals to be in direct contact with your skin.
Myth No.10- Makeup is harmful to your skin. Makeup is not harmful to your skin. The only harmful thing is not keeping hygiene as a priority. Clean your brush and blending sponge, not to use expired makeup products. Burst these makeup myths for yourself.
Myth No.11- Women over 40 can’t do shimmer. No matter what age you are, you should wear any makeup you want. If you love a little bit of sparkle and shimmer, go for it. Gold, peach, brown, burgundy—all look amazing and sexy on the eye.
Myth No.12- Concealer goes before the foundation. It’s recommended to apply foundation first and then hide the other skin imperfections using concealer. This way, you won’t use more than you need, and your makeup will look more natural.
Myth No.13- You don’t need to wash your brushes if you use them only on yourself. The longer you don’t wash your brushes, the larger amount of bacteria accumulates on the surface that can later cause skin diseases and infections. Wash them regularly.
Myth No.14- Moisturisers work as face primers. Besides moisturizing, primer smoothes your skin. Besides, makeup applied over primer will last much longer.
Myth No.15- You can match your foundation to your wrist. Your entire body has different shades. Match your foundation to your jawline, if it matches there, it is a perfect shade for you.
